1st camping trip a success!

We had our first camping experience over the weekend. We decided to head to Okoboji (not too far from home!) and went to Gull Point State Park. We ended up having a great time! Here are some of the details...
Friday night we loaded everything up. As organized as I thought I was with my "camping list," it all went to heck when we were loading the camper. I had been putting stuff in totes for a few weeks...but hadn't put much actually in the camper. So, we just put the totes in the camper and decided we would organize when we got there. We had yet to pack clothes or cold foods...so did all that too Friday after work. We managed to leave our house by 6:30 and got to the campground just after 7. Our spot turned out to be very nice!

We unhooked and then went to Milford for supper. We decided it would be easier to just eat out since it was already after 7. By the time we got back and started to put things away, it was time for bed! We did get a campfire going and sat around the fire...but not for too long as we were shot!

Saturday we had a great time! We spent the day at the park, at the beach, and just lounging!

We cooked pizza pies over the campfire for lunch and brats and hot dogs over the fire for supper.

It was a very warm day out. I'm sure glad our air works so well in our camper...because of how much I like a/c! The beach was so nice! Presley enjoyed riding her bike around too! We managed to only have to make 1 trip to Walmart to get a few missing supplies on Sat. night.

Sunday a.m. we had breakfast and started to pack up to head home. We left around noon!

All in all, it was a success! Definitely something we can't wait to do again. We hope to get out a few times before the end of the season! We will call you if we are in your neighborhood! We can't wait to "sight-see" all the campgrounds around us!

Here are a few more pictures from our adventure...

Presley Renee is 5!!!

It's so hard to believe that 5 years ago...our first child was born! Where does the time go? It was one of the most exciting times in our lives! And every minute with her in our lives since that day has been a huge blessing to us! It's amazing what kids do to you...they just melt your heart! I'm sure all of you that are reading this are nodding your heads! I better not write anymore or I will be crying! I will just go in to telling you about her birthday...

We celebrated her special day (this is what she called it for a few days!) on August 2 with a party at our house with all our family. We had a wonderful time! We had supper, opened presents,

ate cake, played horseshoes, and visited! I would say Presley's favorite part was the presents - she managed to make a haul again!

On her actual birthday, August 4, we took the day off to take her to the Lakefield pool and then down to Arnold's Park to go on rides. That was also a fun day!

We brought her in for her 5 year check-up on August 5. She weighs 43 pounds and is 47 inches tall. The appointment took about 5 minutes...all is going well! In 4 weeks, she will be starting her 2nd year of pre-school!

Hope you enjoyed reading a little about her!
