Trip to the cities put us in the holiday spirit!

We had a great time in the cities last weekend for our annual Christmas weekend getaway. We have went somewhere for a long weekend for 8-10 years. We used to go and shop til we dropped! We don't do that anymore with kids. They want to do fun stuff! So, that's exactly what we did!

We got there Friday evening and headed to Mickey's diner for supper. Then we went to the outdoor ice skating arena in downtown St. Paul! What an incredible time we had! It definitely put us in the Christmas spirit. The ice arena was surrounded by Christmas lights! Right before we went on the ice, a couple got engaged! It was quite busy when we got there. We waited about 5 min. to get into the warming house. We rented our skates and headed out. All of us skated! We spent about an hour skating and a 1/2 hr. after playing in the snow! By the time we were done, we were all cold and tired, so we headed to Auntie's and went to bed!

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to get Madison's haircut (see next entry for more on that!) After, we shopped a little bit in the afternoon and then headed to downtown Minneapolis for supper, the Holidazzle parade, and the 8th floor of Macy's display. The parade was a lot of fun. It lasts about a 1/2 hr.

The 8th floor of Macy's display this year was on the "A Day in the Life of an Elf." That was very neat as well. We waited 1 1/2 hrs. to get through and it took about 15 min. to get through it. By the time we were done, it was 9 p.m. Time to head to Auntie's. Jason and the girls went to bed around 10:30 and Amber and I stayed up until about midnight visiting (talking wedding of course!) It was another fun-filled day.

Sunday we got up and headed to Kevin's church for the Christmas Cantata. After, we went out for lunch and headed home. We stopped in Medford to shop for 2 hours on the way home but managed to get home at a decent time.

Thanks to Auntie and Kevin for hosting us again! We had a lot of fun!
