Pumpkin Carving 101

Tonight ended up being the perfect night to carve pumpkins. It had rained all day so Jason wasn't in the field and Halloween is only 2 days away! We hauled in the pumpkins, hauled out the cookie sheets and knives and went to town!

Presley dug right in to help...she loves to stick her hands in the goo! Madison liked to be close...but not too close. She ended up touching a seed...but that was about it. Check out the handy, dandy Pampered Chef icecream scoop we used...it has a lot more uses then one would think!
I googled Pumpkin Carving to see if we could find something really creative. We decided to do a traditional triangle smile and then our name! I actually did most of our name...Jason had to help me a little bit at the end with a couple letters that didn't look quite right. Next year we might buy a pumpkin carving kit and really get creative!
Of course it was a fun night with lots of laughs! Tomorrow Presley has her pre-school Halloween party and then Saturday is Halloween!
Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone!

Go Fish...

After hearing so many good things about the Go Fish guys...we were excited to go and see them in Jackson last weekend. When they were in Worthington a year ago, I didn't think Presley was quite old enough. Then, Presley got their c.d. last Christmas and loved the great kids Christian songs they sing! They were in Okoboji during the summer...but we ended up having 2 other things going on the same night.

When I called for tickets, they had sold out...but the lady took my name and put me on a waiting list. Much to my surprise, she called me a couple weeks later and told me 4 tickets were available. So, Jason, Amber, Presley, Madison and I packed in the TB and headed to the concert last Saturday night.

What a great group of guys! They sing some great songs and can really keep the audience on their feet. Presley danced through most of the concert (and so did the rest of us!) The concert lasted about 1 1/2 hrs.

After, we stopped at Dairy Queen for a snack and headed for home! What a fun night!

Firestation (and library) here we come!

We had a great time going to see the fire station and library again this year at pre-school. I took the morning off to ride along. We got on the bus (one of the kids favorite parts) around 9:15. We headed off. It was lightly snowing and quite slushy out. Presley and Lauren turned for a picture just before getting on the bus.

When we got there, Fireman Dave sat us all down and talked to us about fires, smoke detectors, where to go if there was a fire in your home, to crawl low to stay out of the smoke, etc. It was very interesting. Then, he put on all his equipment for the kids. Since most of them had seen him do it before, none of them got scared. He reminded them a few times that he is still their friend and that he would be there to help them!

Then, we got to go through the fire station. Our first stop was to see all their equipment.

Then he showed us some of the hoses they would use to put out a fire.

Here he was showing us the "jaws of life." I have never seen them (and sure as heck hope I never have to again).

This fire truck the fire station bought used from New York. It was used in 9/11. It is 16 years old and in incredible shape. As you can see, the ladder goes 102 feet.

Then the kids got to go through one of the fire trucks. That was very fun for them!

Here is Presley and Lauren...they are quite the pair. They love to pose for pictures!

And, then we just had to take a group picture!

Thanks to Dave and the fire dept. for letting us come and visit. Our next stop was the Public Library. Here the kids got to look around and then one of the librarians read them a couple books. The kids did a great job listening.

On our way out, Presley and Lauren posed for another picture by all the books. It was another great fiend trip...which I'm so glad I could go along with.

MacKenzie comes to visit!

It was fun to have our niece MacKenzie (and her mom and dad!) come over to visit us the other night. They stayed over night too. Jason's mom and dad, Grandpa and Grandma Dammer, Justin, Holli, and MacKenzie came over for supper last Thursday. It was fun to get together and visit. We are blessed they live as close as they do and we see them about once a month. Thanks for coming over!

A HUGE thank you goes out to our good friend Jamie Gravenhof, his brother-in-law Jamie, and Jason! They did such a great job. It was very time consuming...but well worth it! Fall Foilage!

The girls had lots of fun in their new winter coats playing in the leaves with their Auntie when she was home the middle of October. She was only home for about 2 minutes and had her camera out snapping some great shots of the girls. It was a cool fall evening...but perfect for picking up sticks and playing! Thanks Auntie for capturing more great memories of the Sieve girls!

Great times with family at the Twin Cities Marathon!

We had a great time at the Twin Cities Marathon with my mom, Paul, Amber, Kevin, Eric, Jackie, and Mersaydes the beginning of October.

We went up on Friday night. We didn't get there until late so we just hung out at Amber's dorm.

Saturday we went out for breakfast with Amber and Kevin. They both had busy days and weren't able to spend much time with us on Sat. After breakfast, we went to the Marathon's Family Activities at the capital. All 3 girls ran in the Toddler Trot! Mersaydes ran, Madison got shy about 1/2 way and walked (still can't believe that!) and Presley ran her little heart out. It was cute! They have a mascot run too...so we manged to get a couple cute pictures of the kids! After the Toddler Trot, we grabbed lunch and headed to the outlet mall in Albertville. Mom had never been there and was quite amazed. We spent a few hours there, came back to Roseville and had supper at Olive Garden with Kevin. It was quite packed there...all the runners loading up on carbs. We were tired after supper so headed back to bed.

Sunday we got up early to see Pauly, Kevin, and Amber off at the metrodome. Start time was 8 a.m. - so we were there by 7:30. After they took off, we went and picked up Eric, Jackie, and Mersaydes from Stub and went to the 1/2 way point, 13 miles, to see how they were doing. All were still standing...so that was good! We hurried to the finish line to see Paul (and only made it by 5 minutes after having to make our way to the finish line through all the traffic!) Paul made it in 4 1/2 hours and Amber and Kevin made it in at 5 1/2 hours. All 3 looked really great! We are so proud of them! Congrats! By the time we got to the car, it was 3 p.m. and time to head home.

It was a fun weekend! I can't wait to go to the cities again...I just love it! Can't say I would ever want to live there...but do like to visit!
