Firestation (and library) here we come!

We had a great time going to see the fire station and library again this year at pre-school. I took the morning off to ride along. We got on the bus (one of the kids favorite parts) around 9:15. We headed off. It was lightly snowing and quite slushy out. Presley and Lauren turned for a picture just before getting on the bus.

When we got there, Fireman Dave sat us all down and talked to us about fires, smoke detectors, where to go if there was a fire in your home, to crawl low to stay out of the smoke, etc. It was very interesting. Then, he put on all his equipment for the kids. Since most of them had seen him do it before, none of them got scared. He reminded them a few times that he is still their friend and that he would be there to help them!

Then, we got to go through the fire station. Our first stop was to see all their equipment.

Then he showed us some of the hoses they would use to put out a fire.

Here he was showing us the "jaws of life." I have never seen them (and sure as heck hope I never have to again).

This fire truck the fire station bought used from New York. It was used in 9/11. It is 16 years old and in incredible shape. As you can see, the ladder goes 102 feet.

Then the kids got to go through one of the fire trucks. That was very fun for them!

Here is Presley and Lauren...they are quite the pair. They love to pose for pictures!

And, then we just had to take a group picture!

Thanks to Dave and the fire dept. for letting us come and visit. Our next stop was the Public Library. Here the kids got to look around and then one of the librarians read them a couple books. The kids did a great job listening.

On our way out, Presley and Lauren posed for another picture by all the books. It was another great fiend trip...which I'm so glad I could go along with.
